I understand why the answer is (B). However, I still want clarification on why choice (A) is wrong. If T is fourth, then that means its female and Q is male, yes. But since there are only two females and four males, does it not meant that P MUST be (and NOT can be because it HAS to be male) male too?

When I diagrammed out this question, I didn't reach the conclusion that T must be female. It seems possible that either P or R could be female instead.

We can infer that S must be a female labrador, since we know from the fifth rule that S must be third, we know from the final rule that S is a labrador, and we know from the second through fourth rules that there is only one labrador, a female, receiving a ribbon. We know from the fourth rule that the other dogs receiving a ribbon are greyhounds. We know from the fifth rule that P and R must be ahead of S in first and second place, though we don't know the order. Since both females receive a ribbon, this is how we know that Q must be male, since Q does not receive a ribbon. We also know that U must be male and does not receive a ribbon.

While we know that P, R, and T are all greyhounds, we don't know which ones are male and which one is female.
