I thought that it would have been A because the mortal's and god's agree.

Hi, ivan.199,

Good question.

It is true that Agamemnon decides to sacrifice his daughter to "loose the winds," and this decision is in accordance with the decision rendered by the gods and conveyed by the deity Artemis.

However, while this decision may be identical (and truly there is insufficient information to know whether this decision is in every respect "identical"), there is no evidence that the "motivations" underpinning the decision are the same.

In fact, on line 51 we have explicit evidence that the path directed by Artemis was "chosen by the gods for their own reasons." We have direct evidence that the motivation behind the decision differs.

Based on the passage, the motives of the gods are inscrutable. However, we do have direct evidence from the passage that Agamemnon is in part motivated by his desire for a "victorious battle."

Thus, answer choice (A) at best lacks support and likely contradicts the passage, whereas answer choice (C) has direct explicit support.

I hope this helps!
