LSAT 170........

I registered to re-take the LSAT in January. Submitting a 176+ on January 31st boost my chances or competitive at T-14 than 170 right now? Not worried about scholarships. I seriously need some advice. Thank you!

Hi Hwall,

The short answer is yes, it would help. I'm sure you'd do alright with your current stats, but if you review the current T14 stats (this is my fave spreadsheet for that: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0), you'll see that your 170 is at the 50th median for just a few schools and below for all others. And your 3.4 is below the 25th median for every school.

A 176 would bring your LSAT above the 50th for every school and above the 75th for every school except Harvard (176) and Yale (177).

So, think about the comparison of these two candidates:

  • You currently: 170/3.4
    You in January: 176/3.4

Given how slow this cycle is shaping up to be, the later app with the much better LSAT is worth it. I'd retake.

Thanks!
