Hi there,

I was between D and E for this question. What makes D wrong? Is there simply not enough support to suggest that D could be true?

I see where the evidence for E would be, as in the last paragraph it discusses how exceptionally learned women were often viewed as essentially masculine and preternatural. Could someone just clarify why D falls short?

The short answer, nicizle, is because there is no evidence for answer D. You asked about whether D could be true, but that's the wrong way to frame the question. Instead, ask yourself "what evidence is there in the passage to support this claim?" You won't find any text that suggests anything about women who studied subjects normally omitted from their curriculum, or about women who were acclaimed as authors. If you can't find support for it, it cannot be the correct answer.
