hello - i am having a bit of trouble figuring out the answer to this. I recently got served with a complaint regarding a motor vehicle accident, i am listed as the defendant on there. for some reason they left my insurance off....not sure way. But my insurance company is handling it. They are just after money so criminal charges are filed.

I am confused on if this needs to be disclosed for my applications. most schools point to criminal charges, some are extremely vague so i am not sure......

Hi DG,

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you.

In this case, it will depend on the exact wording for each school. That said, the general rule is to disclose if you are unsure--that way you don't run into accusations later that you acted in an underhanded way (which would be a big problem). I think if you include an explanation with a bit more detail than what is here (such as the nature of the accident and why it's not actually a criminal issue), that will serve to eliminate any concern over what you are telling them.

Thanks!

SO SORRY - I meant to say NO criminal charges are filed....that was a typo. My mistake. It is just a civil suit, does that still require me to disclose?

Even better! That makes this even less of an issue. But again, it depend son the language. Follow that carefully, and disclose where you aren't sure. This won't matter a bit even if you do disclose.

Thanks!
