This was my assumption for the conclusion: One key interest to shareholders is making sure corporations profits are high.

The way I suported this conclusion was by looking at answer choice (C) which essentially supports this idea.

Please quote me so i can get response in my inbox. I want to know abt assumption technique and whether it was correct to assume this

You got it, Cflores17! Your prephrase was good, and if you tried to negate that answer, it would say that high profits are NOT an important interest of shareholders, ruining the argument.

Well done!

Got this right, but the correct AC seems to be in reverse order, which made me take note for studying. It's basically using the new element in the conclusion and the assertion in the stimulus as the necessary.
This seems backward as an AC. I am struggling to pinpoint what type of reasoning this would fall under?
Thank you

Hey dancing,

This is a strengthening question. This stimulus is short - only 2 sentences, one of which is the conclusion and one which is a premise. This makes the gap in the author's logic very obvious.

Premise - presidents must promote the interests of shareholders
Conclusion - a president must keep profits high

The gap is that there is nothing stating that high profits are an interest of shareholders. We need an answer choice that would link these two ideas. If you add in answer choice (C), it does just that, justifying the conclusion. Without this, how could we justifiably say that a president must keep profits high when the only support for this is the fact that the president must promote shareholder interests?

Hope that helps!
