Rule Substitution Questions

Is there a particular strategy you would recommend for tackling the recently-added rule substitution questions? When I try to test the answer choices, it takes up a good deal of time, and when I don't, I often get the question wrong.

The Logic Games Bible, if that is the newest version, then check pages 450 through 460. Those 10 pages contain a detailed breakdown of Rule Substitution questions, the various answers that appear, and how to handle them.
