I kind of ruined my December LSAT because of misbubbling. I expect something in the 150's, when I was testing 165 leading up until that time. I might cancel. But will schools still take me if I apply whenever the February tests come back? Should I just keep my current score?

Hi Wise-one!

(I debated starting with another portion of your screen name, but "Hey Baby" just seemed inappropriate somehow. :-D )

I'm very, very sorry to hear that you had a bubbling mishap. Few things are more frustrating than to study so hard and then have a non-reasoning issue pop up.

Because admission to law school is so competitive, then if your self-analysis is correct, that you will have suffered a 5+ point drop, I recommend that you very seriously consider canceling your score and retaking the test in February.

The issue of whether the law schools in which you're interested will accept the February LSAT for same calendar year admission is a serious one. We've discussed the issue on our blog, and your should start your research into the issue there.

Even if the school you're considering will not accept the February LSAT for same calendar year admission, you should consider retaking it anyway, despite the fact it will push your admission to the next calendar year. There are several reasons for this, and I recommend you check out some of our free information about the effects of improving your score: LSAT vs. Future Salary: The Importance of Test Preparation; and the discussion of slight increases in raw score in percentile rank, beginning at about the 1 hr 28 minute mark of our LSAT 101 Seminar (note: link will open and play our pre-recorded seminar).

Please let me know if this information helps you, or if you have any other questions. Again, I'm sorry to hear of your difficulty.

Ron
