Hi PowerScore,
Thanks for being such wonderful help through the entire process of applying to law school! I'm hoping you can offer some advice regarding my resume. I've read a lot of conflicting information regarding the 1 page vs. 2 page resume. I've been out of grad school for 7 years and will find it extremely difficult to condense my resume into 1 page. The schools I'm applying to don't specifically restrict the resume to 1 page - do you think it's a must that I make it only one page? Also, I know I'm over thinking it at this point, but in my case is it best to list education or employment/post-graduation activities first?

Thanks!

Great questions, Nadia! Among our many resources, PowerScore offers some free help, including a document that goes right to the heart of what you are asking. Here's the link:

The short answer is that, first, you must follow the directions in the application instructions regarding length, font, etc. Second, within the scope of those instructions, remember that this is not a job application, and so the resume requirements are different. Use the opportunity to highlight those things that set you apart and make you an interesting candidate. If you went to school somewhere particularly impressive or unusual, maybe you lead with that. If you've had some professional experience that most applicants won't compare to, then make a point of emphasizing it. Volunteer and community work are also important, as is military service - whatever it is that sets you apart.

Check out that link, in particular pages 7-8. I'm sure you'll find it as useful and informative as I did when my colleagues here at PowerScore showed it to me.

Good luck!
