Why is answer choice B correct? I chose answer A, and am not sure why it is incorrect.

Hello smile22,

Answer A is sort of a mistaken reversal, in that "slash PE + slash PC ----> slash GH" (if there's no personal excellence and no personal change, there's no genuine happiness; contrapositive being "GH ---> PE or PC".)

Answer A is like "PC ---> GH", again, mistaken reversal-ish.

But answer B links things together. The first sentence of the stimulus says, basically, "people shouldn't be dissatisfied". The next sentence says, basically, "Lack of dissatisfaction is bad because [the stuff we diagrammed up above,] and if we want genuine happiness."
So, how do you link lack of dissatisfaction to genuine happiness? Answer B says, more or less, "slash D [not dissatisfied] ----> slash PE", which links up with GH etc. by the diagram above.

Hope that helps,
David
