Hello, I would like to know how to better identify arguments in Reading Comp. I have the bible and currently take the live course but I'm still a little unsure. I am currently identifying only when it says ____ argues ... Is there another way that I can identify the more subtle arguments occurring? I believe that this will help my performance.

Hi JK,

That's a good question. An argument need not be introduced by the term "argues" or, for that matter, by any particular term; when an author introduces two or more perspectives that are somehow contrary to one another, the bases of such disagreement generally form the arguments of the passage.

I hope that's helpful--let me know whether this is clear--thanks!
