I have identified why i am getting so many LR questions wrong, I believe its because i am not identifying the type of question it is. So in an effor to stregthen my skil I have decided to do this section amd focus more on Identifying the type of question and then attacking. Please help me identify questions 3 -19.
I believe question 1 is justify2 is strengthen. Please let me know if this is a good approch .

Hello kappe,

I'll actually help you with all questions through 19, not just 3-19! --Yes, this may be a good approach, in that it does help to know what kind of question it is.

Question 1 (about an astronomer and extraterrestrial, etc., to make sure we're talking about the same "Logical Reasoning Problem Set #1") looks like it may be a Weaken, actually, since it "would require him to reconsider his conclusion"--as opposed to "absolutely justifying his conclusion".
Question 2 looks like a Must Be True, since we're not asking the answer choices to support the stimulus, but the other way around.
Question 3 looks like an Assumption (it "must make" a certain assumption).
Q. 4 looks like a Strengthen (providing the "best evidence").
Q. 5 looks very much like an Assumption.
Q. 6, Assumption also.
Q. 7 openly says "must be true", so I'll let you guess what kind it is.
Q. 8 says "parallel the reasoning", so...guess what it is.
Q. 9 says "main point", so, there you are.
Q. 10 says "most strengthen", so...
Q. 11 is partially a Cannot Be True (inconsistent with the politician's claim), though the "consistent with biologist's claim" part is, believe it or not, sort of a Could Be True question!
Q. 12 looks like Assumption to me.
Q. 13: Parallel Flaw.
Q. 14: Must Be True ("inferred").
Q. 15: Weaken ("tend to invalidate").
Q. 16: Resolve the Paradox (showing one thing doesn't cancel another).
Q. 17: Must Be True ("must also be true").
Q. 18: Parallel Flaw ("both of the logical flaws exhibited in the argument above").
Q. 19: Must Be True ("follows logically").

Nineteen questions answered! That may be a record. Happy Halloween,

Hope this helps,
David

I will use the remainder of this section to focuse on identifying what I am being asked. I will go back into timing on the nect section. May you please identify the remainder questions in this section when you have time?

Hey Kappe-

Your question regarding #22 has been moved to it's own post under this subforum (over at http://forum.powerscore.com/lsat/viewto ... =39&t=6857) and should be answered by this evening! We do that so we can keep separate questions in their own threads, which makes it a lot easier for students searching the forums for answers :-D

Also, for the remaining question type list, let's do it this way, which I think will help you in getting the question type right every time. I'll have one of our instructors categorize the next 20 questions from this problem set, then, after that, you try your hand at it and post the categorization of the remaining question so we can see if you're getting the hang of it! That will prove that you've got it down, and help get rid of the problem you've identified here. Good luck!

Please let us know if you have any questions, thanks!

Hello kappe,

Inter alia, I think you mean "Principle" above, and also "Resolve the Paradox".
Anyway:
41 may be a "Strengthen Principle" question, especially since the question stem uses "could" instead of "must".
43: Method OF reasoning.
44: Weaken, even if it uses the word "flaw".
46: Strengthen Principle
47: Justify Principle
48: Parallel Flaw
52: Method of reasoning
54: Resolve
55: Though likely a Justify Principle, some purists might claim it's really a Strengthen Principle, since the question stem says "most helps", not "100% ensures". Not a huge difference, though.
59: Must Be True
60: Resolve the Paradox Except

Another 21 questions answered! Maybe a record... :D

Hope this helps,
David
