Hello,

I was wondering....if I'm applying to all the T14 schools will community college courses be counted as a negative in admissions as they are generally easier than a 4 year college?

I was wondering for two reasons 1. I started off my first year at a community college before transferring to a four year school

and secondly, I am looking to increase my GPA to become a more competitive applicant....I am currently at the lower 25%th of many of the T14 schools GPA with a 3.55 but my four year college has been rigorous and I am currently in the top 20% in the College of Liberal Arts in my school.

Since I know A's are hard to come by at my degree granting school even though I study diligently....would a T14 school look negatively on the fact that I have been taking classes through a community college my senior year? I'm trying to raise my grades to a 3.6 or 3.65 overall before i graduate.

I understand as far as the numeric factors are concerned the LSAT is much more heavily accounted but I still want to bring up my grades prior to graduation

Thanks!

Hi Matt,

That's a good question. As you mentioned, yourLSAT tends to figure much more heavily in admissions decisions than your GPA, but when it comes to your GPA, the main thing law schools tend to be interested in is a straightforward number to put into their index and determine how you stack up against other applicants.

So, as long as the school where you are earning your degree accepts transfer credits and grades from the previous school that you attended, the fact that some of your grades came from a community college should not come into play.

I hope that's helpful!
