Hello,

I am having trouble understanding the diagram for this rule specifically concerning the first rule.

The first rule states: T is performed either immediately before or immediately after F or immediately after R
I diagrammed this as block TF and block RT so wouldn't you combine these rules to be block RTF since the rule uses language such as "immediately before and immediately after"? Why wouldn't you link these, since T is common to both blocks?

Hi Sarah

The rule is "T is performed either immediately before F or immediately after R."
You are correct when using the TF and RT blocks. The reason you cannot combine them into one block is because the rule says 'or' not 'and'. So you have TF or RT, not TF and RT.
