Hi,

I took the December LSAT yesterday, and like many other test takers, I was taken aback by the Pattern Game in LG and am worried about my performance in LR (I usually finish the sections, and sometimes don't get to 1 or 2 questions) and I didn't finish either section in time and had to guess on at least 4 or 5 questions that I didn't get to in each section. Anyways, I am considering retaking in February, but I'm worried that applying so late in the game and being a part of the last batch of applications will severely hurt my chances of admission at law schools. Even if I manage to get a good score in February (assuming that I need to retake), I would be competing for the few spots that are left at the schools. I know a lot of schools say that they accept the February LSAT, but is it really worth it to apply so late in the cycle? Would I be better off potentially taking a year off and applying during the next school year? I know that is a big decision to make, and a lot of it depends on if I personally want to wait that long before I go to law school, but I guess I'm looking for some insight on how badly (or not) taking the Feb LSAT and applying that late would affect my chances of admission. Thank you.

Hi Karen,

A quick reply here on your questions. The bottom line is that a higher LSAT score will always have more impact than when you apply, because if you have the numbers, they will accept you whether it's December or February. So, if you can take the February LSAT and post a score that is a few points higher, it's worth it. and certainly more than worth it when compared ot delaying for a whole year :-D So, my call would be to put this one out of your mind, and look to February.

That's a short answer given the hour, but I hope it helps! Thanks!

Hi Michael,

Due to how the LSAT is made and pre-tested, the February LSATs are just like any other LSAT in terms of difficulty. However, because they are non-disclosed exams, there's more mystery around them and thus more rumors. But, aside from not receiving your score, it will be similar to any other exam you might take.

Please let me know if that helps. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as Karen. Do you have any recommendations for a 4 week study plan to brush up on important concepts, especially with a full time job? Are there are short term Powerscore courses?

Michael,

If you're interested in reading more about LSAT difficulty, feel free to check out a blog post I wrote a little while back about that very thing: http://blog.powerscore.com/lsat/bid/344 ... rdest-LSAT

I won't spoil anything too much for you here, but I can say that I fully agree with Dave and that post explains why :)
