Hi!

I have a question about the logical reasoning problem sets (not the supplemental test sections) on the Student Portal website. Ideally, I'd like to complete most or all of the problem sets before test day, but I also want to take my fair share of practice tests. However, I'm concerned about the possibility that I will encounter questions on practice tests that are in the problem sets. Is this a legitimate concern? Or do the problem set questions come from different tests than those offered on the Student Portal site?

Thank you!

Hi thansfield,

Good question—and I am happy to tell you that there is nothing to worry about!

There is deliberately no overlap between the problem sets in the “Supplemental Tests, Test Sections, and Questions” section of the Online Student Center and the practice tests provided in the “Take Home Tests” section.

The problem sets (as well as the accompanying supplemental test sections) are all composed of questions left over after carving up tests to create our course lessons and homework sections, and they are offered separately in order to make sure you have access to every released question since 1991. The practice tests are kept pristine (i.e., you will not find their questions anywhere else in the Student Center) for exactly the reason you mentioned—to ensure that when you are taking one of the practice tests, you will not encounter questions you’ve seen before.

So you can definitely take advantage of the problem sets without concern! There are some great questions there, which I think you’ll find helpful.
