Dec vs Feb

Hi powerscore,
I am trying to decide whether I should write the dec or the feb lsat. I would appreciate any feedback . I should note this would be my third write and I had scored an ugly 146. I am now scoring between 156-158. Not sure how much I could improve from that with one month remaining. Here are my considerations :

DEC:
- I think law schools perfer an early writing . (AS they always say they'll take feb but perfer an earlier writing ).
- I can see how I did ans worse case scenario I can beg lsac to give me another chance . (Not sure how strictly they enforce this policy ).
-I don't have to worry about spaces being filled .
- initially I was worried about bias and curves effecting the undisclosed test ( but I was told by powerscores best not to worry about this)

FEB:
- I can have an additional 3 months (from November ) to really work on getting the 170 I've always dreamed of.

- maybe the 170 could help my not so great GPA ( overall B+ and last 2 years A )

Hey John,

Thanks for the question. Interestingly enough, on Thursday we published a blog that addresses the early application aspect of your questions. Check it out when you can: Does submitting an early law school application improve your chances? Depending on the schools you are applying to, it may well be worth your while to take the February LSAT if you can increase your LSAT score further, but you'll have to have a solid list in mind of where you want to go.

In addition, one thing to check is that the schools you are looking at accept the February LSAT results. If they all do, then you can weigh the information in the post above against the chances of scoring better, and make the call.

Last thought: when your GPA is lower, each LSAT point becomes even more valuable since it serves to offset the lower GPA. So, if all else is equal and you can make either test date, I'd push back and go for the higher LSAT score.
