Where in the passage indicates A as being the correct answer? "...reveal the true nature of the deconstructionist's endeavor" ?? It does not seem like that was the main point of the passage. To me, it seemed like the main point was to call out the contradictions in this school of thought (by first explaining the reasoning behind choosing signifier and signified, then what deconstruction means contextually, and finally explaining what criticism means.

Thanks!

Hello,

The things you mention are important, but maybe not the main point. The main point is that deconstruction, just as the word sounds like, is really about demolition more than just criticism. A roundabout way of saying this is that "Implicit in the terminology of the school of criticism known as deconstruction are meanings that reveal the true nature of the deconstructionist's endeavor", so that A is the best answer.

is B factually true? i didn't think it was the MP but it seemed to be factually supported by the second paragraph. what does "anticipated" mean?

Ash, I would read answer choice (B) as a correct MBT answer choice. Anticipated can be read as "preceded" here. Additionally, toward the end of that paragraph, they discuss signify as portend, which they define as "predicting coming events." That definition also matches the term "anticipated" in answer choice (B).

Hope that helps!
