Hi, I struggle with the LSAT RC. There is not a specific question type I am missing. Even more frustrating, on almost every question I get wrong, I have narrowed it down to two answers and I end up choosing the wrong answer. It is also frustrating because there isn't a pattern I can see in why I choose those answers, not some trick I keep falling for or something I gravitate towards. At this point I have done probably every LSAT from the last 15 years.

My question is what other material could I use to study RC? ((((Other than reading newspapers, research articles, and books)))) What other standardized test has the most comparable RC section that I could use to study? My other question is what sort of tutoring package or plan would you recommend? I know I should probably wait until mid summer to kick back into gear for studying, but I want to kind of plan my summer to make sure I prepare for taking the LSAT again.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions on closing that RC gap!!!!

Hi 2k2e,

Congratulations!!! A 171 is a fantastic score that places you in top 2 percentile.

As someone who scored in the 170s myself, I know it is frustrating when you don't perform as well as you know your capable of, even though still did really well. Unfortunately, I know of no other test with a reading section that resembles the LSAT's. If you are already reading challenging materials, the best advice I can give you is to be rigorous in analysis what you are missing.

When I was studying for the test, I made a spreadsheet that listed every question I got wrong and what type of question it was (i.e. must be true, parallel reasoning, etc.) Even though I wasn't missing the same type over and over again, I was able to see which type I was missing the most and spend more time working on that question type.

Even though I wouldn't kick it into high gear until the summer, I would still be working through RC Sections and the RC Bible because like I said above, there is nothing like an LSAT RC section.

Hope that helps.
