Hi all,

I know that normally the word "unless" in a sentence dictates that the words following the "unless" become the necessary part of the sentence and the words before become negated, so, "we will not go to the park unless we finish our homework" would be diagrammed:

GP--> FH
or:
- FH ---> -GP

However, how would, "we will go to the park unless we do not finish our homework" be diagrammed? Is it the same thing?

Please help!

Hi Marie,

This is how I would diagram the first sentence: "we will not go to the park unless we finish our homework":

GP :arrow: FH and a contrapositive as FH :arrow: GP.

Further, I would diagram the second sentence you are asking about "we will go to the park unless we do not finish our homework" as follow:

GP :arrow:FH and a contrapositve FH :arrow: GP.

If two "no's" make a yes/right then the diagram of the first and the second sentence are the same.

A.
