I've been going through the books but wondering if I'm devoting the right time by reading these. Has anyone taken it and saw improvement using these books? :-? :-?

You definitely can!! The bibles were my only study tool starting out, and I've only done self-study. I went through each of the bibles and then the workbooks prior to ever taking a practice test. They do an excellent job of explaining the test and all the different concepts. After I completed the bibles and workbooks (this took me a few months because I have a full time job), I began taking practice tests (1 or 2 weekly). My first practice test was a 158, but then I scored consistently in the 160s, and more recently, I've been scoring in the 170s. I should also note I reviewed each the bibles 2-3 more times to reinforce all the ideas. Throughout this process, the bibles, workbooks, PowerScore forum, and prep tests have been the only materials I've used to study.

I hope this helps!

Yes, my score has improved about 15 points with them. It depends on how you learn though. My only issue with the PowerScore books was that the Logic Games book does not explain many of the newer games that have been popping up on more recent LSATs. It is great for explaining your standard sequencing or grouping games though and gives you a firm foundation. For the "new" games I've just watched videos online (7Sage is excellent and you can find free LG explanations on YouTube).

Hey Jax09876, thanks for asking! It's true that our books mostly focus on the core concept games, the ones that are likely to make up at least 3 if not all 4 of the games on any given test. There's only so much time available in our courses to cover those materials, so we have to get the foundational concepts first. We do have a chapter in our LG Bible on "the Forgotten Few" that deals with rarer game types like mapping, pattern, and circular games, and we now have a pattern game in our full length course book as well as a few odd, older games in some of the lesson homework. We're always working on updated materials, and you will likely see more focus on the rare games in an upcoming edition of the LG BIble.

In the meantime, though, you have this forum! For example, if you want to get help and explanations of the games from the June 2017 test, we have them here:

lsat/viewforum.php?f=1222

In fact, there are threads for every recent test and most older ones, all of which should give you a setup with an explanation for how it was built, and then threads for every question of every game. Give those a look and see if they provide some of what you need. I expect you will find them useful as a living, breathing supplement to the books.

Thanks for working with us! Good luck on your test.

Thanks! Your books have definitely been helpful. Some of these recent "odd" games would be difficult to explain in a book anyway because they are kind of random. As you said, there's only so much you can cover. Giving a strong foundation still helps. I tend to get many (sometimes all) of the questions right on the weird ones just using the core principles covered in the LG Bible. I was mostly just letting the original poster know that the book won't cover every single thing because it can't. I didn't want them to be caught off-guard!

Hey Bendyogi,

Thanks for the question! The PowerScore LSAT Bibles are considered to be a self-study version of our courses, and are a great resource for students looking to begin their self-study with PowerScore’s techniques and strategies.

We do also offer study plans for a period of one month of study to 12 months of study at our self-study site here: http://students.powerscore.com/self-study/index.cfm

Each of the study plans lists a set of Recommended Study Materials—from PowerScore publications and resources, to real practice LSATs from the test makers—followed by detailed weekly assignments to get you ready for test day. :)

Thanks!
