Complete Question Explanation
(The complete setup for this game can be found here: lsat/viewtopic.php?t=7371)

The correct answer choice is (C)

The question stem states that John’s grade in physics is higher that his grade in Italian, but consecutive with it. This creates a GPI block. The question stem also indicates that John’s Russian grade is not the same as his physics grade, and this information creates a GPIR block. Because this GPIR block occupies four consecutive spaces, it must take up grades A-B-C-D or grades B-C-D-E. Accordingly, answer choice (C) is correct.

Hi,

Why does it create a GPIR block and not a RGPI block?

Adriana,

Look at your rules again. We know that IR must be consecutive, so either IR or RI. That is why GPIR works, but RGPI, which separates I and R, does not work. Even though it may slow you down a bit, take the time on each question to make sure you are applying each rule that relates to the elements used in that question. The accuracy and practice will be worth it.
