Complete Question Explanation
(The complete setup for this game can be found here: lsat/viewtopic.php?t=17097)

The correct answer choice is (C)

This question is interesting because it is functionally identical to question #4 in how it is diagrammed, with the only difference being that T is substituted for X.

When T is assigned to class 3, the diagram appears as follows:

The remaining variables are V, Z, W, Y, and X. Because the VZ pair and the WY pair cannot be added to the same class, they must occupy spaces in different classes. Thus, they must each occupy a space in class 1 and class 2:

X is the only remaining variable, and thus X must be added to class 2:

Accordingly, answer choice (C) is correct.

Hello,

I am not sure how to best approach this question. I was trying to work with the choices that can't be together, and added T to class 3 in a diagram, but couldn't find any more useful information from there.

Thanks!

Hi AJH,

This is a local question and really this game is all about the love/hate relationship that each variable has for one another. It is very similar to question 4 in the sense that T's placement is rather dispositive to other students. So T and S going together in Class 3 fills it up and V and Z still have to be separated (neither has to go to Class 1 or 2 in particular though). Same is true with Y and W, either can go to 1 or 2. That leaves us with X having to go to 2 because you know R is in 1. Which is why Answer Choice (C) is correct.

Thanks for the great question and I hope this helps!
