Good evening and Happy Thanksgiving! I am getting quite frustrated when checking correct answer choices that identify the question type because then there is often an abbreviation afterword. Examples:
Main Point - FIB
Main Point - CE
Strengthen - X
Justify - FL
Justify - SN

What the heck do all these abbreviations indicate? Is there a comprehensive list somewhere in the class books or online?

Many thanks

Hi Aspiring!
If you have scored any practice tests on the Online Student Center, you can see a list of the abbreviations on your Score Results page. Also, the abbreviations are typically introduced in the lesson in which the question type first appears.

To answer the ones you've listed:

FIB-fill in the blank
CE-Cause and Effect
X- Except
FL-Formal Logic
SN-Sufficient and Necessary

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Is there a comprehensive list of abbreviations of question types somewhere? I'm going over the December 2007 LSAT, and it says question 2 of the first section was a Pl question, but I can't figure out what that means.

Hey there kvb! "PI" is our abbreviation for a Point at Issue question! That means you need to figure out what it is that the two speakers disagree about. In response to the correct answer choice, one will say "yes" and the other will say "no", one will say "all" and the other will say "not all"; one will say "I agree" and the other will say "I disagree". Your test for supplying those answers has to be based entirely on the text and no outside information or assumptions on your part.
