Hello,

I was wondering if the upside to being in a 2 year program outweighs the downside?

I've heard that you aren't viewed as a more "complete" applicant in the job market as someone who has taken 3 years to get their JD.

For example, would entering the 2 year program that Brooklyn Law offers be essentially what that student makes of it or is the hill steeper to climb in securing a job with said 2 year degree as opposed to a 3 year degree.

Any insight is much appreciated!

Brooklyn's 2 year program has the same requirements as their traditional 3 year JD. The only potential downside that I could see would be if you were unable to take advantage of the time to gain extra curricular or work experience. If you are in a position that you would be able to complete all of the requirements and still round out resume with the experientials, i would think that most employers would consider that a plus.

Hi Shannon,

Thank you for the info.

By work experience do you mean participating as a summer associate or just general work experience?

For me, I've been out of college for 10 years and working within the music industry, hoping to further my career as an IP lawyer or specifically a music lawyer.

Hello,
Usually the work experience is related law/industry. If you already have that experience it should not negatively affect you to do the 2 year instead of the 3 year law program.
Hope that helps,
