For this question, I chose A - continuous sound. I see why that's wrong, but why is E correct? I see complexity in the first passage, but where is it in the second one? Is it on lines 58-63 where it says that musical preference is based one's desire to stick with a specific emotion, and then it says for more trained listeners, complexity is a preference? So because they have a greater preference for complexity it's assumed that they have a positive experience with it and therefore complexity is linked in the second passage to a positive experience - in this specific case?

Thanks!

Correct - I think it is safe to assume that if you get what you prefer, that it a positive exoerience. The second passage does therefore link complexity to positive experiences, at least for "trained listeners". That's enough to satisfy this question.
