A while back I changed my test center to my University for the November LSAT. Lately LSAC has been changing my test center back and forth between different test centers. They send me emails with the reason “due to circumstances beyond our control...” I do have accommodations. Are they having trouble finding people to proctor me? I find the reassignments to be quite nerve racking and upsetting. I paid to change my test center to my University because I feel comfortable there and now they keep changing it. I wonder if they will be able to find someone at all to proctor my test, or they may change it to a test center far away. Can someone from PowerScore please advise? Is there anything I can do? I’ll be devastated if I can’t take my LSAT at my University- a request I paid a lot of money for.

Thanks.

Hi KCM,

Thanks for the message! the situation here could be caused by a lot of things, including conflicts with building scheduling and with testing personnel. In many instances, LSAC is at the mercy of the schools as far as setting an exact time and date. In other cases they are trying to group various test takers together, which can be a difficult scheduling challenge. So, it's very hard to know exactly why this is happening, and often the case is that they won't disclose what's going on behind the scenes. I know that's frustrating, but to be honest no one besides LSAC can say for sure what's happening!

If they don't grant your request for your university, know that that is within their rights. Somewhere deep in the small print it states they'll try to grant requests but there is no guarantee. However, given your accommodations situation you can try to hammer them that this is tied to that request, and that you've paid for it (although I wasn't sure, did you pay some additional fee related to location? I wouldn't think so but couldn't tell from your comment). Either way, they usually have language they can hide behind when it comes to sending test takers to other locations :(

As far as whether there's anything you can do, keep contacting them daily and asking for updates, and stressing the importance of being at your university. And don't get stuck at the first level of their customer service—ask for a supervisor or accommodations specialist to help you!

I realize this isn't a specific answer or solution, but LSAC holds they keys here, and the rest of us are just at their mercy unfortunately.

Good luck!
