GPA Addendum

Hi,

could you clarify for me what form this essay should take? I wrote one that not only talked about the unusual circumstances during a semester of my undergrad but how I overcame them and how the lessons I learned influence me today. While it is nicely crafted, I am worrying that it is a bit off topic towards the end? Do admissions committee care to read that or should I just explain what happened and skip the future stuff.
