Question about Admittance to T-14 Schools

Hello everyone,

Hope all is well. Reaching out to ask a question. I applied in December to several T-14 institutions with the hope of starting in the Fall of 2019.

I am increasingly concerned after speaking to a friend. He said admission to T-14 schools at this point is "unlikely," and to expect a waitlist or rejection. From everyone's experience, is that an accurate perception? I thought schools would make decisions in the coming weeks.

Your friend is dead wrong! Schools can and do wait as late as May to give back responses, and even right now there are still decision waves going out regularly.

Your friend also apparently doesn't realize that each admissions cycle is different, and this particular one has been very slow so far; only now is it starting to loosen up and speed up.

Early February with no decision is not cause for alarm on its own. Relax and just wait—the good news is that you are till in the game at this point, meaning you are in consideration.

Thank you very much David. I also wanted to ask; would you advise completing a law school admissions tour at this point in the cycle? I thought about scheduling a tour and also visiting a class. This would be a great way for me to learn more about a school, I assume, but also a chance to perhaps show my interest.

Hi Candidate,

In general, tours and visits are more for you than for them. The admissions officers are unlikely to pull your file and make any notes unless you make a particularly bad impression. People assume that you are on your best behavior on a visit, so anything negative will be more likely to be noticed and noted. Visits are great opportunities for you to get a feel for a school and decide if you want to attend. But if you are only going in the hopes of boosting your admissions odds, it's probably not worth the time.
