Experts,
I know that your book says that if we see "LEAST" in the question stem, then we should treat it as "EXCEPT." However, what if the stem says:

"Which of the following, if true, would LEAST strengthen the argument EXCEPT"?

In my opinion, LEAST and EXCEPT would cancel out, and we would have 1 Strengthener and 4 non-strengtheners.

Am I correct? Please let me know.

Thanks

You are correct. Consider this progression:
  • "Which of the following, if true, would LEAST strengthen the argument?"

1 answer: non-Strengthen (or "least" Strengthen)
    4 answers: Strengthen

"Which of the following, if true, would LEAST strengthen the argument EXCEPT?"

"Except" then flips the prior breakdown:

4 answers: non-Strengthen (or "least" Strengthen)
    1 answer: Strengthen
Thanks!
