What do Law Schools consider when making decisions on transfer applications?

Hey T!

They look at everything again (LSAT, GPA, resume, essays, etc), but the big focus now shifts to your first year performance at the law school you are transferring from. In other words, if you do well (the typical performance line cited is that you should be in the top 10% of your class or so), you can typically transfer "up." But if you don't do well, you are not going to be able to transfer. This is why we always advise students to select a school they'd be happy graduating from, because there are no guarantees that someone is going to crush their first year grades and transfer out.

Another point is that you'll need a law prof from your school to write a letter of rec, so you'll need to work on making a great relationship there as well. But it's mainly about your 1L grades :-D
