Hi there,

I have a question regarding whether it would be helpful to include an addendum in my application.

As an undergraduate student, I was offered an unpaid summer internship. The company was legally required to offer college credit for my work in lieu of a salary due to state employment law, so I registered for a course at a local community college. I matriculated at the community college only as an on-boarding prerequisite for my internship. I did not use the course credit toward my undergraduate degree (which I earned from a different institution) and I did not take any additional courses at the community college.

However, when I ordered my transcripts from the community college for my application, I discovered that I received a "Not Pass" for the course. I had prioritized the work relating to my internship over completing the course to the best of my ability, given I did not plan to use the credit.

Would you recommend including an addendum addressing the poor grade? The grade does not reflect the work I completed during my internship and is not representative of my academic performance.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback you may be able to provide.

Thank you!

Hi PNW,

YES, definitely include an addendum here explaining what happened! Any school would want to know what was up with a No Pass result, and you seem to have a good explanation, so I'd go into some detail about it (especially if you weren't really in the class, which is kind of how it seems based on what you said).

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the speedy response! Your advice is helpful. I will write up an addendum.
