I have had an incredibly hard time getting familiar with logic games and the best strategies to implement in order to recognize the correct answers. After reading HW explanations and FAQs in the forum, I still don't understand the best way to approach these games. In all the LG sections I get almost every problem wrong. Is there a step-by-step explanation I can use to help me with these problems? Something that I can implement on all types of sequencing games?

Hi Laura,

First of all, know that you're in a position that many successful test-takers have been in before. Take, for example, me: I got basically every games question wrong on my diagnostic and it took me a while to figure out the mechanics of the logic games section. Luckily, games are eminently improvable.

Now, I won't be able to give you a comprehensive strategy in a forum post, and I think you'd be well served by working your way through an intelligently and intentionally designed LG curriculum (like Powerscore's, to name one option) rather than learning games one forum post at a time. That said, I have some general advice to share with you.

First, take it slow and focus on understanding games' mechanics, rather than attempting to do games quickly. You want to learn how games implement different rules and have a solid sense of what a game is asking you to do. Second, you should have a firm handle on what the rules of each game mean and a clear diagram expressing that meaning before you approach the questions. Third, it often helps to sketch out some possible ways game pieces can fit into diagrams before hitting the questions. All these strategies will apply differently game by game, and you'll be able to master them only after working your way through a curriculum and practicing lots and lots of games.

Hope this helps, and I'm happy to answer any other questions.

Hello, I had a similar question. I am currently using the Powerscore Bibles as well as the training type books. Concerning the Game type training workbook, is there anywhere where the explanations/work for the problems can be found whether it be on this site or in another book?

Hi Makar,

Thanks for your post. Many of the explanations for the Type Training questions are located right here on the forum! And of course, you are always welcome to post any additional questions you may have.

In your Training Type books, there is a detailed answer key, which will tell you from which Preptest each question is sourced. From there, you will know exactly where to locate the forum post relevant to that question.

The detailed answer key is found on page 111 of the LG Type Training and 195 of the RC Type Training. For the LR Type Training, the answer key is online, and you will find the website address on page 2 of the book. :-D

For instance, the first questions in the LG Training book are from October 1991, 6-12. In the forum, you will find the post under the LSAT Logic Games Section, PrepTest 2 - October 1991 - LSAT Answers and Explanations - LG, Game #2: https://forum.powerscore.com/lsat/viewforum.php?f=451.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions! Thanks!
