We recently received the following question from a student. An instructor will respond below. Thanks!
Any opinion on T3 waitlist movements this cycle? Will there be more movement due to COVID-19? Will there be more than average deferrals? What do you guys predict will happen this cycle?

Hi,

Waitlist movement goes on all summer at most schools, the T3 included. However, this has been a very slow cycle so perhaps there will be more movement than usual this summer.

At the same time, at a school like Yale, the list is incredibly small to begin with, and usually the percentage taken is quite small. so what could be big movement for them might be only 3 people getting in. In other words, you couldn't really even tell it happened :) HLS is bigger in terms of class size, and so it's more apparent there, but the T3 usually has a good yield rate so again we're not talking about 75 people getting in suddenly.

Deferrals are expected to be up this year due to the virus situation, and that may cause all schools to admit more people off the waitlist this summer than usual .

In short, there are factors here suggesting greater than average WL movement, but even still you might not be able to tell it's occurring. And, of course, each school has its own situation and may act differently than expected.

Thanks!
