Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to the likelihood of the August LSAT becoming a Flex.

As it stands, I plan on sitting for the August exam, but would like to take the July exam as well if it means gaining experience with the Flex format. However, as you can't register for two exams at once, I don't want to register for the July exam and lose a seat for the August exam if it turns out not to be Flex. How likely is it that the August exam becomes a Flex?

Thank you!

Hi A,

I recommend that you follow me on Twitter—that is where I address breaking news that is of interest to the entire LSAT prep community :) I've addressed this question a few times there, and when we get updates directly from LSAC, they are posted there first.

As far as August, they just announced July a few days ago so it will be a while before we know. I suspect not until late June at the earliest, and possibly July as they wait to see how this all plays out. That said, if I had to wager on it, I'd say August will be Flex, but it's too soon to know.

Thanks!

Hi Dave!

Do you know when LSAC will announce whether the August test is Flex or not?

I'm struggling to figure out which test center to register for. I go to school in NYC and my classes are supposed to start on August 26th, meaning that if I am on campus, I need to register for the NYC test center for the August 29th test. However, I don't live close to NYC otherwise. If my college decides to not have students back on campus, then I need to register for the test center close to my home. Obviously if August is Flex I don't need to worry about this, but I don't know where I will be living at the time of the August test, so I don't know what test center I need to register for.

Hi Caroline,

Thanks for the post! Unfortunately, LSAC has not made any definitive announcements yet about the August LSAT Flex. However, LSAC's website does state the following:
Will you be giving additional LSAT-Flex test administrations in August if the COVID-19 emergency is still affecting large parts of the country?

If necessary, yes. We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely and will follow the direction of public health authorities in determining whether the August LSAT must be canceled in some or all locations. We are making contingency plans so that no matter what the COVID-19 situation is in August, candidates will have the opportunity to test. If necessary, another remotely proctored LSAT-Flex could be a part of the solution.
I would continue to monitor LSAC's site https://www.lsac.org/update-coronavirus ... /lsat-flex as well as Dave's Twitter for updates. :)

As for your location predicament, I would recommend reaching out to LSAC directly in advance to explain the situation and see if there are any options in case you need to switch centers (i.e., ask if they can waive any test center change fees, or extend the test center change deadline etc.) These are strange times, and LSAC is aware of this. :)

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

I currently reside in Canada and I was looking to book for the August lsat, but I was wondering if there were any updates on the likelihood of the August lsat being offered as the LSAT flex version? Also, if lsac announced that the lsat flex is available would that be dependant on the region you live in; meaning that it may be offered in the United States, but not Canada?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,

Adnan
