Retaking PTs

Hello,

I wanted to know if it was a good idea to retake PTs I've taken in the past. I do not remember the answer to each question when I have retaken them but I do remember seeing the question. Many have been from about six months ago and I took the November LSAT so I wanted to take that one as a PT as well. Are the scores we receive from these retakes accurate to how we will do on the LSAT or do they sort of get biased because we have had exposure to these tests in the past?

Hi jm123,

That's a good question. I would avoid using previously used tests as practice tests. There are nearly 90 released tests available now. That's plenty of material to allow you to take only unused practice tests as timed exams. Tests you've already used can be good for review, especially for game set ups.

Reusing practice tests seems like it should be fine because it's been so long. But even if it's only slightly familiar, or familiar in the back of your mind, it will impact your score. You may move faster through the terminology. You may find yourself remembering that there was a conditional somewhere in that stimulus. It's risky, and could impact your overall score on the PTs in ways that make them less reliable. If you can, save unused practice tests for timed tests, and use previously completed tests to review material in already completed tests.
