Hi!

I was debating between purchasing the Official LSAT Prep Plus, or individual exams from Powerscore. However, I had some questions regarding the Prep Plus.

1. Once you have complete a the test and received your score, can you see what questions you got wrong on the Prep Plus program?

2. Does it keep a history of your scores that you receive?

Thank you in advance!

Hi sim,

It's a yes to both of your questions, although I'd note that the scoring on the PrepPlus has been the most widely criticized feature because there's zero as far as analytics. As in, you can see what you got right and wrong but that's it. So the theory is that even if you have PrepPlus—and you will want to get it if you are studying long-term—you'll have to supplement it with additional programs. We hope to offer something special as far as analytics after the license switchover, and I'll post details on that when I have them finalized :-D

Thanks!

Hi!

I just listened to the podcast episode Who Gives a F#$% About LSAC Licensing? You should. And correct me if I am wrong, but effective June 30, 2020 LSAC will be charging all students who have not already purchased some sort of course $99 to use any online material whether it is through them or an independent prep course.

I have purchased all of the PowerScore LSAT bibles and training type books, but I have not paid for a course (based on your podcast, I am under the impression that means I am not grandfathered in). I am taking my first LSAT in August and although it has not been announced whether it will be a Flex, I do want to start practicing in that format since it does appear we are trending in that direction.

Which has led me to want your opinion:
If Prep Plus does not offer LSAT flex versions of the exam do you suggest manually taking out the experimental and extra logical reasoning section and using a score conversion chart found online?

Alternatively, do you think it may be a better idea to quickly buy a few LSAT Flex practice exams from your website (before June 30th) to ensure I do not get hit with the $99 fee? Or, does it not work that way since I would still be activating a majority of the practice tests post-June 30th since my studies would carry through July and into August.

Thank you so much! BTW I love your podcast, it makes my run so much more enjoyable listening to your banter with Jon!

Hi Dave!

Thanks for getting back to me! And it is great to hear that Powerscore will be offering something once the new licensing goes into effect. After I listened to your podcast, I wanted to make sure I made the right decision as to whether I should purchase something from Powerscore or LSAC.

Thanks Again!

Hi Bye!

A few thoughts for you on your questions here:

That is correct. All digital presentation (aside from very limited Marketing uses) is controlled by the new PrepPlus program, and only allowable to students who have an active PrepPlus subscription number.

Correct, book purchases do not grandfather in any digital usage at all (aside from Kindle, Nook, etc uses already granted).

Something like this, yes. You can "make" Flex tests in this manner pretty easily. We also hope to offer a program that will allow students with the PrepPlus to still access Flex tests and full analytics, but the details on that are not finalized yet. More in the coming week or two if we can make it happen.

This is harder to say, and depends on how many tests you would take. What happens is that anything you buy prior to the license switchover (and our change date, along with most companies, will come earlier than June 30th for technical reasons), is usable afterwards. It is available to you as if nothing changed, and you can buy it today and not use it for three months if that's what you want to do. But, our ability to make new sales is gone, so you can't add to the tests you have once the change occurs. Does that make sense? I want to make sure since this is a tricky issue :)

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the quick response. Its awesome to hear that PowerScore already has something in the works and hopes to offer a supplemental program to go with PrepPlus to enable students to convert the full practice exams to 3-part Flex with a full analytics feature. Do you plan to charge students an incremental fee for this new add-on package?

Regrettably, we have no choice but to charge for it. The way the licenses are set up, just because the student has paid doesn't mean we get off free. For every student we show questions to, we have to pay a separate license fee to LSAC (this is true for all companies). So, even through we're showing you questions you have a license for, we pay a separate license fee just to show them to you. And of course, we also have all of our development costs, technical fees, etc. Our goal is to keep the fees low, however.

Thanks!
