LSAC will shortly announce some major test-related developments:

The August LSAT will use the LSAT-Flex format

Exams will be administered starting Saturday, August 29th, and most tests will be administered on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Score release is being targeted for Friday, September 18th, at 9 AM Eastern.

There will be a score preview option for first time test takers only

If you are taking the LSAT for the first time, you can get a score preview option (just like July of last year). Cost is $45 if you buy before the test, $75 after the first day of the test. Your score comes out with everyone else's score, and then you can decide to keep or cancel over the following 6 calendar days.

LSAT Writing is again required for score release

When LSAC had problems with the administration of LSAT Writing, they dropped the requirement that you needed one on file to have your score released. That requirement is now being reinstated (apparently due to requests from law schools). So, to get your score for the August LSAT or later, you *must* have an LSAT Writing response on file. LSAT Writing will open up 8 days before each LSAT.

Interesting news for sure, especially the score preview being limited to first-timers only, and the reinstatement of LSAT writing as a requirement to get your score (and to have your scores released to schools).

Let me know what you think!

Is there a reason that they're not including this option for the July test? It seems so unfair to just do it from then on and not include the next test.

I'd say mainly because July was already set up and more or less on the doorstep of happening. they don't often make last-minute changes (as in less than a week) to the exam setup itself. I agree it's not great :(

This is a silly question, but has anyone successfully signed up for Score Preview? I'm registered for August but can't for the life of me figure out where within my LSAC account the option is to buy score preview.

glasann, I think the score preview option doesn't show up as an option until August. The email from LSAC that I got about my August registration says this: "This feature will be available for purchase starting around August 1."

Will there be a crystal ball preview for the August 2020 Flex?

Hi jpart3,

Thanks for the post!

Dave and Jon released a new podcast discussing the July Flex test: https://www.powerscore.com/lsat/podcast/60/. Around the 48-minute mark, they mention that they expect the August test to be very similar to the July test. :)

Thanks!

Hi, when/how do we find out whether we will be taking the test on Saturday or Sunday for the August test?

Hi mluskey15,

Thanks for the post, and good question! Per LSAC's website:

"Test takers who are registered for the August LSAT-Flex will receive detailed information via email by mid-August on how to schedule their test time."

So, keep an eye on your inbox! You can also monitor LSAC's website and Dave's Twitter for updates. :)
