Hello PS,

I narrowed the answer choices down to C and D and eventually chose D because it addressed the special effects. I thought D was definitely the better option but thought C had potential. Is C simply incorrect because the film director's argument depends on the future use of the special effects and C does not mention them?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi rozewiczp1,

Yes, that's exactly right! The film director has, in essence, "argued around" answer choice C. Even if this film doesn't recoup the costs, the director is only arguing that the film studio will eventually recover such costs, through the use of the expensive technology in future films (whose future revenues will make up for the current expense). Put differently, the film director isn't arguing about when the costs will be recovered, but simply that they eventually will be. Answer choice C only addresses the unlikelihood of the costs being recovered soon.

I hope this helps!
