I am a bit confused with this question and don't understand why a reconciliation of views is incorrect here.

In lines 8 - 14, it says something along the effect of how Their Eyes is now currently viewed as super successful in its complex depiction of a Black woman's search for community and self. But, int he past was relegated to the dustbins of literary history.

Isn't the purpose of the passage a reconciliation of these two views? How something considered now to be of such high regard was once marginalized?

Hi lsattesttaker,

It's not really reconciliation of two ideas---it's not bringing the ideas that the book doesn't have value and the idea that the book does have value together. It's not combining them. It's explaining how the original evaluations of the book were missing a critical evaluative component. It's explaining why the original evaluations of the novel were lacking, and what new assessments were considering.

Hope that helps!
