active reading and anticipation

The books says to actively read and consider the implications of each statement as they are read. It tells you to anticipate what will occur next int he passage. I think this would take more time and distract me from remembering what I am currently reading. I have ADHD and have trouble remembering what I just read much less trying to determine what will happen next while trying to comprehend and remember what I am currently reading.

PowerScore recommends a number of different approaches to active reading in order to stay engaged with the text and be prepared to answer the questions that follow. You might want to try anticipating what will come next in the passage as you read, in order to figure out for sure whether that is a helpful strategy or is distracting for you. If you find it is distracting, you might want to focus more heavily on some of the other techniques we suggest (such as underlining and marking key points in the passage as you read). Basically, in terms of active reading, everyone will develop their own strategy - you just want to try out all the different options to figure out exactly what combination works best for you.
