Hello,
I initially picked C but ended up choosing D because in the stimulus it refers to past and present cultures and and widely separated epochs both which deal with time so I figured I’d go with the answer that reflected an emphasis on time. I can see why C is correct but it made sense to me that D would be viable too

Hi Ian,

The stimulus does say that storytelling was present in both ancient and modern cultures, but the author never comments on the relative importance. We have no idea whether storytelling used to be more important than it is now, or vice versa.

The aspect of time isn't really used in a comparative fashion, the author mentions past and present cultures just to show that storytelling is universal across a lot of cultures in different places and times.

Hope that helps!
Beth
