I got the answer correct after trying out each answer choice. What is a faster way to get to the answer and what deductions should have come to mind with the placement of K in spot 5? ( in the aspect of the rules)

The fastest way to get to the answer here is to recognize that the local rule placing K in 5 further restricts where the MG block can go. To get to any answer involving M or G you are going to have a 3 block which there is limited room for. The answers involving M and G do not make an allowable 3 block. The correct answer here is the only one not involving M or G. That may not always be the answer, but it is a good place to start rather than going though each answer.
