Instead of term shift, is this actually equivocation? In the stimulus it is using the word "right" in two different ways. Can someone explain the difference between equivocation flaw and term shift.

Equivocation and term shift are the same thing, KG! It means not settling in to one clear position about something - in this case, not choosing one clear, consistent meaning for what kind of right is being discussed.
