Why is A wrong? I was debating between A and B. I understand that the author is against analytic reading for edited texts but I don' t understand what tells us they are skeptical about it rather than adamantly opposed.

I don't see anything there that shows the author is adamantly against the analysis.

The author is cautious about the close analysis of edited autobiographies. They aren't making a statement that they are certain it won't be productive. They are open to the idea of analyzing these texts, as they state in the last sentence of the passage. They allow that maybe some analysis could be useful if it takes the method of production of the autobiography into account.
