That helps, Sarah, but I found the description of the phylogenetic concept as "increasingly popular" to be the most crucial evidence to support that answer. This is right in the first paragraph:
Splitters, on the other hand, tend to use the increasingly popular phylogenetic species concept
If it is increasing in popularity, it probably has more proponents now than it had previously, right?
