hello,

i was wondering what the logical difference between options D and E are. is it because one mentions the internet specifically and the other does not?

thank you!

Hi Chu,

Absolutely right! The conclusion here is specific to the behavior of internet users. We don't know about the behavior of people in general when they want to experience global connectedness. Answer choice (E) is too broad of a conclusion for the support the stimulus provides.

I'm not sure if you a prephrasing these questions, but I highly recommend a clear prephrase on main point questions. You should be able to go into the answer choices with a clear idea of what you want the correct answer choice to look like because there is only one main point of an argument. Going in without a prephrase makes it more difficult to avoid trap answer choices like answer choice (E) here.

Hope that helps!

B sounds so similar to the correct answer. Is it wrong because of reversal of argument structure?

Hey Tooty,

Answer choice (B) is incorrect because it overlooks the second part of the Columnists' argument - looking for emotional connection via the Internet doesn't work because it does not generate feelings of interconnectedness.
