In the answer key it says that "E" for empty can't go seventh making 5 of the seven variables not an option for 7th place, resulting in either L/O seventh. I don't understand how this inference was made, that E can't go 7th?

Hi saranash!

The third rule states that Tables 5, 6, and 7 must be occupied by a patron, meaning that the "Empty" seat must be 1-4.

forgot about that rule because I didn't draw it out because I didn't know how. Any suggestions?

If you are using a filler variable like E to represent the empty seat, then a simple Not Law for E under 5, 6, and 7 will suffice.

I was referring to the rule that says tables 5,6,&7 must be occupied by a patron.

Hi Sara!

Yes, Jason is referencing the right rule. If a patron must sit at tables 5, 6, and 7, then they cannot be empty (E), and thus E Not Laws under each table would represent that idea.

Thanks!
