I know the November LSAT is only a week left. However, I am a little worried about my test center. I didn't get a chance to select my top 1 test center. Therefore, I selected the second option which is Boston Hnes Convention Center. (BHCC) However, some people said that Convention centers are usually the kind of test centers that need to be avoided because they usually put all the students together in a very large room.

I called/emailed LSAC and they told me that I have the option to show up at my ideal test center on test day as a "standby." However, there is no guarantee whether I will be able to take the test or not. I know it sounds very risky and in a typical scenario, people won't make the risky move on such an important date. However, I keep thinking what if the environment at BHCC is not good which might affect my result?

Has anyone shown up as a standby before? Or Does anyone know the possibility it is for a standby to take the test? Anyone took the test at Hynes Convention Center in Boston?

I appreciate any experience sharing and recommendation!!

Thank you,
-C

Hey C,

Sorry to hear you are in a dilemma! I don't know the specifics of BHCC, but with standby it usually works but of course there's no guarantee. And, sometimes the uncertainty of having to nervously wait then has a negative effect on the test itself.

Convention centers can be problematic, and it depends on which room they send you to as well as whether anything else is occurring there that day (hopefully not!). I might first check the BHCC schedule for next Saturday to ascertain if there's a possibility of external noise coming in. If not, then it's a matter of whether the larger room will bother you more than the uncertainty of knowing whether you can even take the test! For me the uncertainty would be more unsettling, but that's just me and everyone is different.

Good luck, and no matter what you do, please let us know how it goes!
